how to fix a shower door that won't close
Glass shower door won't close all the way

We can't get our glass shower door to completely close... Can I adjust the screws on the hinges to let it close? It closes most of the way, but leaves a 1/2" gap which water drains out of- onto the plaster, trim and floor....
Any ideas on how to fix this?

If it was me I'd definitely start by cleaning out any corrosion on the hinges as seen in photo 2. And then make sure the glass is totally clean on that inside edge as well as the bottom. Just to be sure there isn't something stopping it from closing all the way
I can't imagine whoever installed it was like ahhh 1/2" gap left, the job is complete

Thanks! That's where I'll start from- do you think I should take the door off? With it being glass, heavy, and expensive, that's sort of my last resort...
I think the gap has grown over time, which makes me think it's the corrosion / crud in the hinges maybe...

I have the exact same issue. The glass can sag. I actually fixed mine last weekend. Make sure the brackets are aligned in all axis and then unscrew the clamps a little bit and use some thought out force to move the door. Search youtube as well for glass shower door or something. Quite some info out there and a common problem.

Is there a rubber sweep on the bottom of the door? My parent's and brother's door have that and they don't have leak issues

There is a rubber / silicone sweep on the bottom, you can see a little of it in the 2nd photo there. It's the little gap (also in that photo) where the water is leaking from.

Cut the door sweep on the bottom so it doesnt overhang , see if u can tighten screws a tiny bit that might help also

There's a couple things you can try you can loosen the hinges alittle bit have someone there to help you then adjust the glass a little but before you try that check the hinges and see if there are small Allen screws a lot of those hinges have adjustment screws that have small Allen heads

Is the bottom sweep hitting the surface? It looks like you sweep isn't all of the way flush. Try pushing it up? Otherwise, the door may have shifted from the top hinge but you didn't take a picture. These hinges work like a sandwich, just squeezing the bread together with screws. To fix, take off the sweep, use a small wedge under the doors outer bottom edge, loosen the 2 screws clamping the upper hinge, use the wedge and slowly lift the door and push it a bit farther under, then tighten the screws. You'll need a helper on the outside of the door.
